Great Britain?s Nicola Adams, the first ever women?s boxing champion in Olympic history, has told Metro she wants to repeat her 2012 win at the 2016 Rio Games. Boxer Nicola Adams shows off her gold medal to crowds in Hyde Park (Picture: PA) Adams made history at London 2012 with her victory over world number one Ren Cancan of China to win the flyweight division, and the 29-year-old said after years of hard graft, she would resist the lure of offers to turn pro to try and repeat her victory at the next Olympic Games, in Brazil. ?Women?s boxing is bigger in Germany and the USA than it is in Britain ? there are some promoters offering the chance to turn pro but I want to get another gold in 2016,? she said. After three silver medals at world championship level, Adams was determined to make the most of her shot at Olympic glory on home soil, and did so in style, totally dominating her final to win it 16-7, and seemingly with a big smile on her face all the time.
